Katie Britt tied with Trump-endorsed Mo Brooks in Alabama Senate primary: Poll

Katie Britt is tied with Rep. Mo Brooks in the race for the Republican nomination for Senate in Alabama, according to a fresh poll conducted for her upstart campaign.

Brooks has been endorsed by former President Donald Trump, who is incredibly popular in Alabama. But Britt, former chief of staff to retiring Sen. Richard Shelby, received the support of 31% of likely Republican primary voters, compared to the 30% garnered by Brooks. The survey suggests that at the very least, Britt has made the Senate primary competitive despite the boost Brooks received from Trump’s endorsement.

“It is clear that the people of Alabama are ready for fresh blood in the Senate and are tired of ineffective career politicians like [President] Joe Biden and my opponent,” Britt said in a statement.

The poll was conducted Nov. 3–8 by TargetPoint Consulting, a firm with a solid track record in producing accurate data. However, the Brooks campaign might take issue with some aspects of the survey. The sample size was 300 respondents, and the poll was conducted via online interviews, with the margin of error coming in at a high 5.66 percentage points.

Meanwhile, many Republican insiders in Alabama expect Trump’s endorsement to ultimately carry Brooks to the nomination, which in turn would position the congressman to score an easy victory in the 2022 midterm elections.

However, this is not the first poll of the Republican Alabama Senate primary to show Britt competitive with Brooks.
