Hillary may be edging out Obama in total fundraising, but he’s holding his own in Hollywood, Variety reports. In the third quarter, Obama pulled in $580,000 from the film, TV, and music industries while Clinton snagged $530,589. (Edwards was a distant third with $96,052.) Variety attributes the difference to the Power of Oprah, who threw a giant fundraiser for Obama at her Montecito estate in September, raising $3 million in one shot, a good chunk of which came from Hollywood types. Curious as to who your favorite industry heels are putting their money behind? George Clooney has given $2,300 to Obama, as have Tyler Perry (Why Did I Get Married), Morgan Freeman, and Mark Burnett (Survivor). Susan Sarandon’s given $2,000; Oliver Stone only put out $1,000. Robert Redford hasn’t given any money, but his daughter, aspiring New York actress Amy Redford, found it in her heart to give $2,000. She’s an Obama girl. An “unemployed” Christopher Guest in Santa Monica gave Hillary the $2,300 max (his wife, Jamie Lee Curtis, gave to both Hillary and Obama). Paula Wagner (Tom Cruise’s Karl Rove) and Michael Mann (Heat, now and forever) also ponied up for Mrs. Clinton. Brian Grazer, one of the smart guys in Hollywood, gave big money to Hillary, Obama, and Edwards. Kate and Steven Spielberg have hedged their bets even more, giving to those three and Bill Richardson. Paul Haggis, who gave us the craptastic In the Valley of Elah and Crash – the most undeserving Best Picture winner of the last 10 years, which is saying something – gave $1,600 to Dennis Kucinich.
