The National Capital Planning Commission is sponsoring a design competition for a temporary commemorative work to be built in the Federal Triangle area. The work will be built in the Ariel Rios Federal Building’s hemicycle, between Pennsylvania and Constitution Avenues and remain there for one year. The theme for the competition is Earth Day. A request for qualifications (RFQ) will be posted soon at https://www.fbo.gov/, and proposals must be submitted by Feb. 28. An evaluation board will then choose finalists to develop more detailed proposals, from which a winner will be selected. For more information, go to www.ncpc.gov/beyondgranite/. — Courtney Zott
