Fox News contributors Jessica Tarlov and Lisa Boothe got into a heated argument over whether or not President Trump is racist during a Wednesday segment on Outnumbered.
The panel rehashed the president’s comments about Baltimore and Democratic Maryland Rep. Elijah Cummings, whom he attacked on social media last weekend.
“You can criticize the tactic sure, but at least it’s successful in trying to draw attention to it,” Boothe began. “I think the bigger problem is that President Trump is right in a sense — the word ‘racist’ has become so devalued.”
Harris Faulkner then showed a new Quinnipiac poll that shows 51% of people surveyed believe the president is racist, with 86% of Democrats thinking he is.
Boothe proceeded to suggest that the economy has been good for black people and that the president is responsible for it.
“He could make those arguments but it’s not going to change the fact that he is a racist, that he does racist things,” Tarlov fired back.
“A birther means you are a racist,” she continued. “Telling women of color who are congressional representatives to go back to where they came from, when three of them were American from birth, one a refugee who is now a citizen, is racist. Thinking the Central Park Five is guilty even though they’ve been exonerated, is racist. Hold on! Elijah Cummings’ district contains parts of Baltimore. It’s also part of the suburbs.”
“You would agree people will say something and not actually have the name-calling. We’ve been talking about — you didn’t like it when AOC and a staff member did it for Speaker Pelosi,” Faulkner responded. “It’s a loaded word.”
“You think that Nancy Pelosi and Donald Trump are in the same conversation when it comes to that? I have sat on this couch and been badgered and pushed to say that Ilhan Omar is an anti-Semite, or that she said anti-Semitic things, or AOC or Rashida Tlaib. People need to be honest about what he is doing,” Tarlov said and then continued talking as Faulkner tried to get a word in.
“This is insane! Oh my God, guys! I will remember this the next time we say, ‘It’s all about the Benjamins,’ and you want me to sit here and talk about Louis Farrakhan,” Tarlov added.
