Vice President-elect Mike Pence concluded meetings at Trump Tower on Monday by telling members of the press holding in the building lobby that the transition team will have more news to share on Tuesday following a day of no Cabinet appointments.
“Look forward to being back at it first thing in the morning and there will be a number of very important announcements tomorrow,” Pence told the press before heading out Monday night.
Dr. Ben Carson was offered secretary of the Department of Housing and Urban Development last week and said he would be “praying” about the decision over the long weekend.
John Bolton, Sen. Bob Corker of Tennessee, former Mass. Gov. Mitt Romney, former NYC Mayor Rudy Giuliani and former CIA Director David Petraeus are being vetted for secretary of state.
The Trump transition team is also still considering candidates for defense secretary, including Sen. Tom Cotton of Arkansas and retired Marine Corps General James Mattis.
Pence, the outgoing governor of Indiana, also shared his concern for the attacks on Ohio State University’s campus in Columbus, Ohio, earlier on Monday.
“Our hearts go out to the families of those affected in Ohio – a tragic attack. Our prayers are with them,” said Pence.
