National faith leaders on Tuesday delivered a life-sized coffin and death certificate to Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell’s office.
Ministers and leaders from Auburn Seminary, Faith in Public Life, #LoveResists, Middle Church, NYC, Red Letter Christians, Repairers of the Breach and Unitarian Universalist Association led a protest Tuesday morning over what they consider a “moral assault efforts to repeal the Affordable Care Act.”
Nineteen of those leaders were arrested after they proceeded to the Senate Gallery where they chanted “kill the bill” as the Senate considered legislation to repeal and replace Obamacare.
Republican’s efforts to repeal Obamacare have sparked numerous protests outside the Kentucky Republican’s office that have led to over 100 arrests over the past several weeks.
More than 150 people demonstrating in 45 different locations around the Capitol were arrested last week for refusing to comply with a cease and desist order from Capitol Police over their unlawful demonstration activities.
Under D.C. code it is illegal to demonstrate in any of the Capitol’s buildings.
