Trump claims all Harley-Davidson owners voted for him

Every owner of a Harley-Davidson motorcycle voted for President Trump, the president claimed on Sunday as he defended his decision to weigh in on business decisions by a U.S. company.

Milwaukee-based Harley-Davidson earlier this month said it would shift some U.S. production overseas to avoid retaliatory tariffs from the European Union in response to Trump’s own tariffs on steel and aluminum imports. The decision was particularly noteworthy for Trump, who brought the company to the White House in the weeks after he was sworn in.

“I devoted a lot of time to Harley-Davidson,” he told Fox News. “Everyone that ever bought a Harley-Davidson voted for Trump.”

Harley-Davidson is among the U.S. companies that are becoming more vocal in their opposition to the administration’s trade agenda. General Motors on Friday warned that proposed tariffs on automotive imports could hinder sales and force layoffs.
