Former James Bond actors Pierce Brosnan and Daniel Craig have expressed support for the iconic British spy becoming a woman.
Brosnan, 66, was the fifth actor to play 007, starring in four films from 1995 through 2002.

“I think we’ve watched the guys do it for the last 40 years. Get out of the way, guys, and put a woman up there. I think it would be exhilarating, it would be exciting,” he said to The Hollywood Reporter. “James Bond has a certain significance and a deep pride. I will be asked about him until my dying days — it just goes with the territory. He’s a beloved character.”
Despite Brosnan’s desire, he said he doesn’t think a woman will be cast as Bond until Barbara Broccoli is no longer the executive producer because she insists that “Bond is male.”
Craig, the actor who has portrayed Bond in each of the last four movies, said that “of course” the character could be played by a woman, according to the Washington Post.
The 25th James Bond movie is scheduled to be released next April and it features Craig as 007. Black British actor Lashana Lynch is reportedly one option to replace Craig as Bond.
