Update: Windows at synagogue, school, businesses shot with BB gun

UPDATE, 7:45 p.m.: Police said surveillance footage from the Fortune Terrace Shopping Center captured a gold, two-door car, pictured at right, in the area at the time of the vandalism.

Julius West Middle School, located at 651 Great Falls Road in Rockville, was also vandalized. Police said six windows at the school were damaged, apparently from BB gun projectiles. That vandalism was reported at about 1:30 a.m., the shopping center vandalism was reported at about 6 a.m. and the synagogue vandalism was reported at about 7:30 a.m.

ORIGINAL POST, 3:15 p.m.: Montgomery County police say windows at a Potomac synagogue and two nearby businesses were damaged shot by BB guns.

Officer Howard Hersh, a police spokesman, said the vandalism was discovered at Beth Sholom Congregation, located at 11825 Seven Locks Road, shortly before 8 a.m.

Six windows were shot at and damaged, Hersh said. The Jewish holiday of Passover begins Monday. There were no other signs of vandalism, Hersh said, and police don’t know the motive for the incident.

Two other businesses located about a mile away sustained similar damage, he said. Those were Robert Bernard Jewelers and Lacy Couture. Both are located in the Fortune Terrace Shopping Center on the 1000 block of Seven Locks Road.
