Chris Wallace corrects HHS secretary for not calling Biden the president-elect

Fox News Sunday host Chris Wallace made it clear to a top Trump administration official that Joe Biden is indeed the president-elect, following his declared victory in November.

Wallace alerted Health and Human Services Secretary Alex Azar multiple times that Biden is the president-elect after the secretary referred to the Democrat as the vice president.

When asked if the country would be in a better position had President Trump taken efforts to promote masking like Biden is with a recommended 100-day mask mandate, Azar defended Trump but was quickly interrupted after referring to Biden as the wrong title.

“I welcome Vice President Biden to the club since the middle of April, the president’s guidelines for reopening …” Azar said before Wallace corrected him.

“The president-elect, sir. He’s the president-elect,” Wallace said.

Wallace made it clear once again after Azar finished his response.

“First of all, it’s the President-Elect Joe Biden, Secretary Azar,” Wallace said. “And secondly, the fact is the president said on the first day, April 30, that he wasn’t going to wear a mask. He didn’t wear a mask in public for three months until July, and just last night at that rally in Georgia, not only didn’t he wear a mask, but I was watching the rally. Thousands of people packed together, none of which I could see were wearing a mask. That is a direct violation of what the CDC and what you are recommending.”

Trump has yet to concede to Biden over the 2020 election, continuing legal fights in several states, where he alleges voter fraud took place to prompt a victory for his opponent.

Over the weekend, the president demanded to know which Republicans recognized Biden as the victor of the election following a Washington Post survey. The survey asked all 249 GOP lawmakers in Congress whether they recognized Biden as the next president and found only 25 lawmakers that called Biden the president-elect.

Trump painted the 25 lawmakers as Republicans in name only and requested to find out who they are on Twitter.

“25, wow! I am surprised there are so many. We have just begun to fight. Please send me a list of the 25 RINOS. I read the Fake News Washington Post as little as possible!,” Trump said.

Electors from each state are preparing to meet on Dec. 14 to certify votes for the state they represent. On Jan. 6, the vote count will be finalized and election results will be certified.
