While it is common practice in Hollywood to reboot movie franchises, the idea of rebooting a television series has never really been explored. Until now.
Deadline is reporting that NBC and “The Office” producer Greg Daniels might be thinking about a total reboot of the show. Nothing is set in stone at the moment, but it is rumored to be a strong possibility. Steven Carrell’s departure last season shook things up a bit, and this season has been marred by uncertainty. The show is yet to be renewed and some of the key actors — John Krasinski and Jenna Fischer among others — have yet to sign new contracts. Rainn Wilson might be involved in a Dwight Schrute spinoff soon, and Mindy Kaling just filmed hre own pilot for Fox.
NBC will make a decision after looking at the pilots for next season.
