McCain on violence outside Turkish embassy in DC: ‘There is no excuse for this kind of thuggish behavior’

Arizona Republican Sen. John McCain said Wednesday there “is no excuse for this kind of thuggish behavior” after nine people were injured during a protest on Tuesday outside the Turkish embassy in Washington.

“This is the United States of America,” McCain wrote, retweeting a video of the violence. “We do not do this here. There is no excuse for this kind of thuggish behavior.”

The violence came the same day President Trump met with President Recep Tayyip Erdogan of Turkey at the White House.

According to multiple reports, a fight broke out between supporters and critics of Erdogan.
