Obama should defend federal marriage law Re: “House leader surprised by Obama not defending DOMA,” Feb. 24
President Obama’s unilateral decision to no longer defend federal law on marriage is a threat to the common good and must be opposed. Alongside his militant efforts to support murder through abortion, Obama is relentlessly dismantling the moral order of America. He preaches equality while wielding a hammer and sickle over the rights of the religious.
Traditional marriage is the foundation of the family, which is the first society, first school and first government. Until now, every civilization has understood marriage as the union of one man and one woman for the purpose of procreation and the education of children.
The truth about homosexuality is written in the natural law and confirmed by medical science. There is no gay gene. Obama must be stopped from imposing immorality on the people and from using the police power of the state to enforce his new order.
If we fail to act, the Christian nation we know and love will soon become a place where Christians will be forced to retreat from participation in commerce and political life or face outright persecution.

Start Fort Hood terrorist trial
The Obama administration’s delay in fully prosecuting Maj. Nidal Malik Hasan, who is accused of murdering 12 U.S. service members and one civilian, and wounding 32 people in the name of Allah, is just another of the missteps and mistakes it continues to make.
As a veteran of both the Korean and Vietnam wars, I resent the decision to temporarily delay his trial by a military tribunal. This is not the change the American people voted for.

Kilmer deserves spot in Hall of Fame
Re: “They’re bringing Rexy back,” Feb. 2
Whenever the names of NFL greats missing from the Hall of Fame come up, I add to the list the Redskins’ indomitable and incredible Billy Kilmer. This bigger- than-life athlete gave everything he had every Sunday as part of George Allen’s “Over the Hill Gang” and led his team to the Super Bowl.
As Kilmer’s classmate in Southern California, I had the opportunity to follow his career from his high school days, where he displayed remarkable talent as an athlete in all major sports.
This triple-threat, single-wing All American tailback from UCLA, who has an amazingly big heart for winning, is also a great human being. He has never forgotten to be a loyal and devoted friend over the years and is well deserving of the hall’s recognition.
