House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., said Monday that it was “unacceptable” for Rep. Maxine Waters, D-Calif., to call for the harassment of Trump administration officials wherever they are found in public.
“In the crucial months ahead, we must strive to make America beautiful again. Trump’s daily lack of civility has provoked responses that are predictable but unacceptable,” Pelosi tweeted in a message that included a link to a story headlined, “Democratic Rep. Maxine Waters encourages her supporters to harass Trump administration officials.”
“As we go forward, we must conduct elections in a way that achieves unity from sea to shining sea,” Pelosi wrote.

Waters told her supporters at a rally in Los Angeles over the weekend that they should “create a crowd” at public venues wherever Cabinet officials go, and to tell them they are not welcome at that place.
“Let’s make sure we show up wherever we have to show up. And if you see anybody from that Cabinet in a restaurant, in a department store, at a gasoline station, you get out and you create a crowd,” Waters said. “And you push back on them, and you tell them they’re not welcome anymore, anywhere.”
Waters’ response came after White House press secretary Sarah Sanders said over the weekend that she, along with several family members, were asked to leave the Red Hen in Lexington, Va., due to her affiliation with the Trump White House.
Earlier in the day, the National Republican Congressional Committee called on Pelosi to disavow the comments from her fellow California Democrat.
.@MaxineWaters’ rhetoric condoning the verbal abuse of public servants is unacceptable.
We call on @NancyPelosi to condemn these hate-filled comments.
