In a show of frustration with President Trump on his 72nd birthday, model and celebrity Chrissy Teigen released a statement Thursday revealing each member of her family is donating $72,000 to the American Civil Liberties Union.
Teigen and her singer husband John Legend made the announcement via Twitter, describing themselves as “outraged” over recent reports of immigrant family separations at the border — part of a hard-line policy that was an attempt to offset spiking apprehension numbers.
“These actions are cruel, anti-family and go against everything we believe this country should represent,” she wrote. “The ACLU is committed to defending the rights and humanity of these vulnerable families.”

The model urged her followers to also donate, whether it be “$7.20, $72, or whatever you like.”
Teigen has routinely been a vocal critic of the Trump administration on Twitter, where she has amassed a following of more than 10.6 million followers and has earned the ire of the president. The president blocked Teigan on Twitter last year and retweeted a follower who called her a “trashy gutter mouth woman.”
Last month, a Manhattan federal judge ruled the president was not allowed to block accounts on Twitter, and Tiegen expressed her satisfaction with the decision.
“Well well well we meet again @realDonaldTrump,” she tweeted.
