Condit’s son discusses Levy case

The son of former Rep. Gary Condit (D-Calif.) said the Chandra Levy case has weighed heavily on his family and his father is working on a book about the case.

On ABC’s Good Morning America on Thursday, Chad Condit said his father told police “everything he knew about Chandra Levy,” with whom the then-congressman was having a sexual relationship. The media firestorm surrounding the affair was painful for his father, Chad Condit said.

“I don’t know that it will ever entirely be behind him,” he said.

Chad Condit also said his father is working on a book about the case to tell his side of the story.

Gary Condit was once considered a key suspect in Levy’s May 2001 slaying in Rock Creek Park. Another man, Ingmar Guandique is now on trial in D.C. Superior Court for her death.

Condit testified at Guandique’s trial and refused to admit that he had an affair with Levy. But an FBI forensics expert testified Wednesday that his DNA was found on underwear from Levy’s apartment.
