Trump hires former Jeb Bush employee for Education Dept. job

President Trump will nominate Carlos Muniz, a former attorney for former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush, as general counsel at the Education Department, the White House announced Friday evening.

Muniz is senior vice president for McGuireWoods’ office in Tallahassee, Fla, and is a former Florida deputy attorney general and former deputy general counsel to Bush. He also worked as deputy attorney general and chief of staff for Florida Attorney General Pam Bondi.

Muniz graduated from University of Virginia and Yale Law School. He and his family of five live in Tallahassee.

Bush ran for president in 2016, but dropped out during the primary season.
