Family of teen killed in UK crash to sue Trump administration for ‘lawless misconduct’ and cover-up

The family of a 19-year-old killed in a car crash involving the wife of an American diplomat is suing the Trump administration.

Harry Dunn died in an Aug. 27 wreck after a car collided with his motorcycle near the Royal Air Force Croughton station, which is operated by the U.S. Air Force. Police said a car traveling on the wrong side of the road hit Dunn head-on. Dunn sustained serious injuries and died at the hospital.

The suspect in the collision, Anne Sacoolas, 42, fled the United Kingdom after the accident and has been protected by diplomatic immunity.

“We are bringing claims against both Mrs. Sacoolas in the U.S.A. for civil damages, as well as the Trump administration for their lawless misconduct and attempt to cover that up,” Radd Seiger, a spokesman for the Dunn family, told Sky News.

Dunn’s parents have pleaded for President Trump to send Sacoolas back to the U.K. and visited the White House earlier this month to meet with the president. Charlotte Charles and Tim Dunn said they felt they were ambushed when Trump tried to get them to meet with Sacoolas, who was also in the building. The family declined, saying it was the “wrong setting.”

“No one is above the law and the family are determined to ensure that this never happens to another family again,” Sieger said. ”It will be Harry’s memorial. His legacy.”

He added, “The Trump administration is not only hellbent on breaking international laws, rules, and conventions on diplomatic immunity, but they have no care or concern for the welfare of Harry’s family or any real intent on finding a solution.”
