Florida Attorney General Pam Bondi praises Trump for fulfilling Jerusalem embassy promise

Florida Attorney General Pam Bondi lauded President Trump Monday following the opening of the new U.S. Embassy in Jerusalem.

“Our president does what he says he’s going to do,” Bondi told Fox News’ Neil Cavuto. “I think it’s a strong not only show of strength, but also unity. Israel is one of, if not our greatest ally in the world and I’m so proud of what happened today.”

Bondi touted her support of Trump just hours after the new embassy’s dedication ceremony.

“I’ve been to Israel twice as attorney general and Jerusalem is the capital of Israel,” Bondi continued.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu met with Florida Gov. Rick Scott and other Republican members of the U.S. delegation Monday prior to the opening ceremony.

“I met with Florida Gov. Rick Scott, a Senatorial delegation led by Lindsey Graham, and a Congressional delegation led by Joe Wilson,” Netanyahu posted on Twitter. “Today is an historic day that constitutes a milestone in the history of our people, our state, and our alliance.”

Trump addressed ceremony attendees in a video message, saying “the plain truth that Israel’s capital is Jerusalem.”

“For many years, we failed to acknowledge the obvious: the plain truth that Israel’s capital is Jerusalem. Today, we follow through on this recognition and open our embassy in the historic … city of Jerusalem,” Trump said in the video.

The embassy was opened in the Holy City on the 70th anniversary of Israel’s founding.
