President Trump earned enough delegates to clinch the 2020 Republican presidential nomination.
Before Tuesday’s primaries, Trump had 1,104 delegates, which was 172 delegates short of securing the nomination. There were 246 delegates up for grabs between Illinois, Florida, and Arizona.
Trump did not face any serious challenge for the nomination.
“Nobody motivates our base more than President Trump, as evidenced by the historic turnout we’ve seen in state after state this primary season,” Republican National Committee Chairwoman Ronna McDaniel said in a statement. “[We] are thrilled to have President Trump as our Party’s presumptive nominee once again.”
