Fairfax coach charged in steroids case

A man who coached high school football has been arrested on steroids charges, along with his supplier, Fairfax County police said.

Jeffery Reagan, 43, was charged with possession with intent to distribute steroids and conspiracy to distribute steroids. His suspected supplier, 35-year-old Jeremy Helbing, was charged with distribution and conspiracy.

The two were arrested Tuesday in the Sully Plaza Shopping Center, where Helbing was allegedly selling steroids to Reagan, police spokeswoman Lucy Caldwell said. Police received a tip in December and began investigating.

Reagan coached football at South County High School for several years, officials said. He also taught at Mount View High School, an alternative learning center.

Although Reagan had gone to football camp and a fitness session for the West Springfield High School football program, Fairfax County Public Schools spokeswoman Mary Shaw said he hadn’t coached the team.
