The 2006 Governor?s Arts Awards Biennial ArtSalute Galaheld Thursday at the Maryland Institute College of Art in Baltimore City recognized six artists, educators, patrons and businesses for their commitment to the arts.
The six winners, Manuel Barrueco, Gary Beauchamp, Eddie and Sylvia Brown, McAllister Associates, Pipstein and Associates accounting firm and Grace Hartigan, received awards for individual artist, arts educator, arts patron, large business supporter, small business supporter and lifetime achievement, respectively. Recipients were determined by a statewide nomination and received a statuette in honor of their commitment.
Presented by the Maryland Citizens for the Arts Foundation and Maryland State Arts Council, proceeds from the 350 tickets sold will go toward the Maryland Citizens for the Arts Foundation, said Cheryl T. Goodman, media and public relations consultant for the event.
