Acrodyne Communications reports year-end turnaround

Acrodyne Communications Inc., a Baltimore-headquartered manufacturer of radio frequency equipment, including high power television broadcast transmitters, has reported a significant turnaround in its net earnings for the year ended Dec. 31.

The company reported net earnings for the year of $122,202, marking a more than $2 million improvement compared with 2004 results. Per share earnings for 2005 were about 0.005 cents compared with a 7 cents per share loss for thesame period a year before.

Aside from its turnaround in net earnings, the company also reported a 42 percent increase in annual sales for the year ended Dec. 31. Sales for the year were $14,282,500 compared with $10,068,000 for the end of 2004. According to Acrodyne, the fourth quarter of 2005 was particularly strong with an increase in order activity that generated a sizable order backlog at the end of 2005. The company expects the backlog to continue momentum through the first half of 2006.

“Our company is maximizing our position as the leading supplier of television transmitters in the domestic commercial IOT TV transmitter market,” said Nat Ostroff, the company?s president and chief executive officer, in a statement. “Acrodyne technology is also applicable in areas of high energy scientific research and is currently under contract from a leading research laboratory to supply a super power radio frequency source.”
