Donald Trump Jr.: Dick Cheney ‘mad’ Trump is stopping ‘endless wars’

Donald Trump Jr. on Tuesday attacked former Vice President Dick Cheney over foreign policy after a recent confrontation with his successor, Vice President Mike Pence.

“Isn’t it fitting that Cheney is the one mad that Trump is ending his reckless and endless wars? I never knew peace would be so unpopular!” Trump Jr. tweeted Tuesday.

The jab at Cheney came a day after the Washington Post reported that Cheney and Pence sparred over President Trump’s foreign policy at the American Enterprise Summit in Georgia.

Cheney said he worried Trump’s non-interventionist foreign policy approach had grown similar to that of former President Obama, according to leaks from the private event.

“We’re getting into a situation when our friends and allies around the world that we depend upon are going to lack confidence in us,” Cheney reportedly said. “I worry that the bottom line of that kind of an approach is we have an administration that looks a lot more like Barack Obama than Ronald Reagan,” he added.

Pence shot back at Cheney saying, “I think there is a tendency by critics of the president and our administration to conflate the demand that our allies live up to their word and their commitments and an erosion in our commitment to the post-World War II order.”

“But we think it’s possible to demand that your allies do more to provide for the common defense of all of our nations and, at the same time, reaffirm our strong commitment,” Pence said.
