Megyn Kelly grills Fiorina over $500K gift from Cruz super PAC

Carly Fiorina, the recent vice presidential pick for Ted Cruz should he get the Republican nomination, said she was unaware of details regarding a $500,000 contribution a super PAC for the Texas senator gave her fundraising arm last June, according to an interview late Wednesday.

Fiorina, who was announced Wednesday afternoon as the running mate to Cruz, told Fox News host Megyn Kelly she didn’t believe the transfer of half a million dollars — the largest expense the PAC had paid out — was “unusual.”

“The last time I looked at what super PACs do, is they’re not coordinating with candidates by law and most super PACs give to a variety of like-minded candidates,” Fiorina said. “I don’t find it particularly unusual, but I don’t know the particulars of it.”

Following the donation, the Federal Election Commission had sent a letter to Cruz’s PAC, asking for an explanation of the gift, as opposed to the “other disbursement” it had listed the transfer as.

Kelly’s questioning Fiorina was the first time she has been put on the spot about the fund transfer since joining Cruz’s campaign seven weeks ago when she endorsed him.
