In an effort to keep voters from showing up to an empty building on Nov. 7, Fairfax County is reminding its residents of some changes to where they must cast their ballots.
The changes were in place for the 2006 primaries, but voting officials worry that those who didn’t participate in the first round of elections aren’t aware of the new locations.
In the Hunter Mill district, the polling place for the 235 Frying Pan precinct has been relocated to the Visitor Center at Frying Pan Farm Park at 2739 W. Ox Road in Herndon.
The Mount Vernon District’s Lorton precinct has been split along Interstate 95. Residents west of I-95 will vote in the 628 Laurel Hill precinct at the South County Secondary School at 8501 Silverbrook Road, while residents east of the highway will remain in the 617 Lorton precinct and vote at Lorton Library at 9520 Richmond Highway.
Also in that district, the polling place for 625 Lorton Center has moved to Grace Bible Church at 7795 Grace Church Lane in Lorton.
Voters in the Grosvenor precinct, who previously cast their ballots at the Riverside Park Apartments on Cameron Run Terrace, will vote at the Huntington Community Center at 5751 Liberty Drive in Alexandria.
In the Lee District, the polling place for 404 Franconia precinct has not changed, but is now called the “Snyder Center.”
