Brother of Capitol attack suspect says he seemed paranoid and suicidal leading up to the incident

The brother of the suspect killed in Friday’s Capitol attack says his sibling was dealing with suicidal thoughts and paranoia in the months prior to the shocking incident that also left a Capitol Police officer dead and another injured.

Brendan Green said his brother Noah Green, who has been identified by multiple news outlets as the perpetrator of the Friday attack, had experienced hallucinations, heart palpitations, headaches, and suicidal thoughts, which he believes could have been related to mental illness or drug abuse.

While living in Indianapolis, Noah thought that people were breaking into his apartment, his brother told the Washington Post for an article published on Friday. When Brendan Green went to the city to check on him, the apartment seemed safe, but his brother’s “mind didn’t seem right,” he recalled.

Noah Green moved to Botswana from Indianapolis about a month ago and told his brother that “his mind was telling him to basically commit suicide,” said Brendan Green. Noah Green then reportedly went back to the United States and moved in with his brother.

“To be honest these past few years have been tough, and these past few months have been tougher. I have been tried with some of the biggest, unimaginable tests in my life. I am currently now unemployed after I left my job partly due to afflictions, but ultimately, in search of a spiritual journey,” Noah Green said in a Mar. 17 Facebook post reviewed by the Washington Examiner. “I haven’t had much to lean on the past few months, I’ve been faced with fear, hunger, loss of wealth, and diminution of fruit. My faith is one of the only things that has been able to carry me through these times and my faith is centered on the belief of the Honorable Minister Louis Farrakhan as Jesus, the Messiah, the final divine reminder in our midst.”

After allegedly ramming a car into two officers stationed in front of the Capitol and charging them with a knife, Green was shot dead. Shortly thereafter, as news outlets began identifying Green as the suspect, his profile was removed from Facebook.

Capitol Police Officer William “Billy” Evans died, and the other officer, who has not been identified, was in stable condition with non-life-threatening injuries.
