Donald Trump Jr. suggested that there may be more CNN employees rigging the system against his father during a Tuesday appearance on the network.
“In all fairness, debate questions were given to Hillary Clinton before debates with him. You can’t tell me that that’s a fair and balanced system. That’s what people are so upset about,” he said.
CNN announced in late October they had fired Democratic strategist Donna Brazile after a hacked WikiLeaks email released earlier that month revealed she had shared a question with the Clinton campaign for a CNN-sponsored primary debate before the event had taken place.
Host Alisyn Camerota said that behavior represents the actions of one “rogue” individual with whom the network has since severed ties, but Trump Jr. interjected and finished her sentence by saying “That we know of.”
“And that’s the problem with the system,” he said. “It shouldn’t have happened to begin with, but there are very clear lines. People have picked sides. The media’s not fair and balanced or objective anymore.”
He said this is a systematic problem, arguing that both liberal and conservative-leaning media should be held accountable.
“I think we want to get to a place where we can have fair conversation, where you can actually have true freedom of thought because these days, you know, if you have — you can’t — you’re put in a corner,” he said.
