“Oh, I wish I were an Oscar Mayer … ice pop?!”
The company has started selling a hot dog-flavored frozen treat.
The ice cream comes with the classic smokey flavor of the meat with a swirl of mustard on top. The creator teamed up with Popbar to distribute its newest summer creation.
“After the overwhelming fan excitement for our beloved Cold Dog, it was a no-brainer to make this hot dog-inspired frozen pop a reality,” Oscar Mayer spokeswoman Anne Fields said. “For more than 130 years, Oscar Mayer has been sparking smiles and bringing levity into everyday moments, and we are thrilled to bring fans another wonderfully odd way to enjoy our iconic wiener while beating the summer heat.”
WHILE FOOD PRICES INCREASE, STEAK PRICES ARE ON THE DECLINE
Popbar is selling the ice pop for $2 at its select locations in Long Beach, California; New York City; Alpharetta-Atlanta; and New Orleans while supplies last. The Oscar Mayer Wienermobile also got a makeover to commemorate the new treat it is also selling as it travels down the East Coast.
A poll on Oscar Mayer’s Instagram asked if the new ice pop was stupid, with 43% voting yes, genius (29%), or a combination, “stenious,” (28%).
“I’ve had nightmares about this,” the Popsicle account responded to the news of the cold dog.
