Newt Gingrich endorses Trump

Donald Trump scored an endorsement Wednesday from former House Speaker Newt Gingrich.

“I endorsed Donald Trump. I am going to work very hard for the nominee,” Gingrich told Fox News host Sean Hannity.

The showing of support for the presumptive GOP presidential nominee comes in the midst of Trump’s stalemate with current Speaker Paul Ryan, who said last week he was not ready to back him.

Gingrich admitted Wednesday he dragged out his endorsement so not to offend other “very good friends” who had been in the race.

“John Kasich is a great personal friend of mine, Ted Cruz ran a great campaign,” Gingrich said. “I tried to be an objective observer” while there was still a race to observe.
