A D.C. man who police said tried to rob a restaurant in Bowie has died from injuries he suffered while wrestling with one of the victims.

Prince George’s County Police said Henry Lamont Gilbert, 29, used a handgun in an attempt to rob the Bejing Cafe in the 1300 block of Crain Highway around 3:30 p.m. on May 18. Gilbert struck one employee, and another grappled with Gilbert.

Gilbert and the employee suffered serious injuries and Gilbert fled. Police found him later with trauma to the body and he was taken to a hospital where he died Monday. Police would not say how Gilbert became injured.
