‘You will pay the price’: Schumer threatens Kavanaugh and Gorsuch as Supreme Court hears abortion case

Sen. Chuck Schumer took aim at Supreme Court Justices Brett Kavanaugh and Neil Gorsuch, promising to make them “pay” as the pair is set to rule on abortion regulations.

“I want to tell you Gorsuch, I want to tell you Kavanaugh: You have released the whirlwind, and you will pay the price,” the New York Democrat said Wednesday at a rally for abortion rights. “You won’t know what hit you if you go forward with these awful decisions.”

The Senate minority leader accused the justices of taking away “fundamental rights” as the Supreme Court is hearing a case about a Louisiana law that regulates abortion providers, which opponents have argued unconstitutionally limits abortion access by placing an undue burden upon those seeking abortions.

President Trump blasted two liberal members of the court last month, saying they should step aside on cases involving his administration.

“Both should recuse themselves on all Trump, or Trump related, matters!” the president said about Justices Ruth Bader Ginsburg and Sonia Sotomayor. “While ‘elections have consequences’, I only ask for fairness, especially when it comes to decisions made by the United States Supreme Court!”

The abortion rally at which Schumer made his comments was attended by representatives from Planned Parenthood and the ACLU, along with other liberal members of Congress.
