Four dead, 3 in critical condition after helicopters collide near Sea World in Australia


Four people are dead after two helicopters crashed near Sea World on the Gold Coast in Australia, authorities said Monday.

The crash between the two helicopters happened at about 2 p.m. Monday local time. Authorities said 13 people were on the two helicopters. Of those 13, four are dead, three are in critical condition, and six others have minor injuries.

7NEWS Brisbane says one of the helicopters was able to land upright, but the other one crashed into the sand. Police and emergency vehicles could be seen speeding down the roads to get to the crash site.

The Queensland Ambulance Service is asking people to avoid the area of the crash. Authorities say the investigation is ongoing.
