No Levy testimony until Wednesday; trial winding down

The trial of the man accused of killing federal intern Chandra Levy is on break until Wednesday.

D.C. Superior Court Judge Gerald Fisher has been hearing other matters on Fridays and court training sessions are scheduled for Monday and Tuesday.

The murder trial of 29-year-old Ingmar Guandique is scheduled to resume Wednesday, and testimony is expected to wrap up late next week or early the following week. Guandique is accused of killing Levy, 24, while she was jogging in Rock Creek Park in 2001.

Prosecutors said in court Thursday that they plan to call three to four more witnesses. Defense attorneys say they will take about a day to present their case.

On Thursday, one of Guandique’s former cellmates testified that Guandique had admitted killing Levy, the first time in eight days of testimony that Guandique was directly linked to the death of the Federal Bureau of Prisons intern.
