Paul Manafort banker robbed of iPad, briefcase at NYC penthouse: Report

A banker for Paul Manafort was robbed overnight of an iPad, a briefcase, and some sneakers at his Manhattan penthouse, according to a report.

David Fallarino, who works at Citizens Bank, told authorities he left his terrace door open before he went to sleep Monday, NBC affiliate News 4 reported. He heard a noise around 1:30 a.m. Tuesday and found a crow bar on the terrace. Fallarino said his wine cabinet had been opened, and there was a bottle of wine on the floor. No other items were reported missing.

Fallarino did not testify at Manafort’s trial earlier this month. Manafort was convicted on eight felony-fraud related counts.

Fallarino was one of several Citizens Bank employees involved when Manafort applied for two multi-million-dollar loans from the institution, one of which he ultimately obtained.

Prosecutors argued Manafort misled banks as he sought the millions of dollars in funding from Citizens Bank. The 12-member jury convicted Manafort on one count of bank fraud related to a $3.4 million he received from the New York-based institution.

Two of Fallarino’s assistants testified at the Virginia trial about emails he had sent and received.
