A woman in India who expected twins gave birth to a baby with two heads.
Shaheen Khan had the baby, who has two heads, two hearts, two spines, and three arms, in India’s Ratlam District Hospital on Wednesday. The condition when two heads share one torso is called dicephalic parapagus.
Their third hand appears to have six fingers but demonstrates some mobility, according to a video from the Times of India.

There are no reported plans for the baby to undergo surgery, but the baby was transported to a hospital in Indore under the care of pediatrician Dr. Naved Quresh.
“These kinds of cases are rare, and the condition of babies remains uncertain, especially in the initial days,” Khan’s doctor, Dr. Lahoti, said, according to the Sun. “Due to this, we have kept them under observation.”

Conjoined twins make up about 11-13% of twin births, according to a study. Roughly 40% are stillborn, and 35% who survive die in the first 24 hours. Those who undergo surgery have about a 60% chance of survival.
