Sanders willing to ‘sit down and talk’ with Hillary about VP spot

Bernie Sanders said that “of course” the Democratic nomination process is stacked against him, but he didn’t rule out joining the ticket with Hillary Clinton if he loses.

“Well right now, we are focused in the next five weeks [on] winning the Democratic nomination,” he told CNN Friday evening when asked if he would be interested in being Clinton’s vice president. “If that does not happen, we will fight as hard as we can on the floor of the Democratic convention to make sure we have a progressive platform that the American people will support.”

He added, “And then after that certainly Secretary Clinton and I can sit down and talk and see where we go from there.”

At this point in the race, Clinton leads Sander in delegates 2,205 to 1,401, according to the Associated Press’ delegate tracker. As the two Democrats prepare for the remaining primaries, Clinton hopes to wrap up the race up as quickly as possible so that she can focus her efforts on the general election battle against Donald Trump.
