President Trump lashed out at the New York Times early Monday and called its coverage of his campaign and administration “totally inept.”
“The failing @nytimes, which has made every wrong prediction about me including my big election win (apologized), is totally inept!” Trump tweeted.

A Times article from the weekend stated Vice President Mike Pence and other Republicans are planning a 2020 run if Trump does not seek a second term.
Pence denied the report as “disgraceful” and called them an “attempt by the media to divide this administration.”
“Hard to believe that with 24/7 #Fake News on CNN, ABC, NBC, CBS, NYTIMES & WAPO, the Trump base is getting stronger!” Trump wrote in another media-related tweet.

Trump also listed out a series of accomplishments and said they are bringing his supporters even closer together.
“The Trump base is far bigger & stronger than ever before (despite some phony Fake News polling),” he wrote.
“Look at the rallies in Penn, Iowa, Ohio and West Virginia,” he said over a few tweets. “The fact is the Fake News Russian collusion story, record Stock Market, border security, military strength, jobs, Supreme Court pick, economic enthusiasm, deregulation & so much more have driven the Trump base even closer together. Will never change!”
