First the District asked for help coming up with a name for its new bike sharing program, now it’s looking for suggestions of where to put the stations.
The new Capital Bikeshare program will expand bike sharing beyond the District to Arlington and will bump up the number of stations to 114, with more than 1,000 bikes. Under the plan, people could rent a bike for short trip then drop it off at another station. People can fill out the online survey to make suggestions of where all those bikes should be.
The bikeshare concept could expand around the region as a regional transportation group is seeking a federal grant to bolster the program further.
