Trump rips Doug Jones as a ‘disaster’ and a ‘Schumer/Pelosi puppet’ in Alabama Senate race

President Trump ripped Democratic candidate Doug Jones, who is challenging Republican candidate Roy Moore for Alabama’s Senate seat, as a potential “disaster” who would be a tool of Democratic leaders.

“The last thing we need in Alabama and the U.S. Senate is a Schumer/Pelosi puppet who is WEAK on Crime, WEAK on the Border, Bad for our Military and our great Vets, Bad for our 2nd Amendment, AND WANTS TO RAISES TAXES TO THE SKY. Jones would be a disaster!” Trump tweeted Sunday.

He later added, “I endorsed Luther Strange in the Alabama Primary. He shot way up in the polls but it wasn’t enough. Can’t let Schumer/Pelosi win this race. Liberal Jones would be BAD!”

Jones, a former prosecutor who sent three Ku Klux Klan members to prison for bombing a church in the 1960s and killing multiple African-Americans, is trying to do the unthinkable and win Attorney General Jeff Sessions’ old seat in the Senate as a Democrat.

That’s only possible because Moore has been put under siege after multiple women alleged Moore either sexually assaulted them or attempted to date them when they were teenagers and Moore was in his 30s.

Moore is accused of molesting a woman when she was 14 and he was 32. Moore has denied all the allegations.

Trump is breaking with Republican lawmakers, who have mostly called on Moore to drop out of the race if the allegations are true. While some Republican senators have called on the upper chamber to expel Moore if he is elected, Trump has come close to endorsing Moore and repeatedly said Moore denies the charges.
