A family in Philadelphia was held hostage in its own home for three days after armed intruders broke in and tortured the father.
The incident started Friday night when three masked people took a 45-year-old man hostage and forced him into his home and demanded a large amount of cash, Philadelphia Police Department Capt. John Ryan said.
The “gang” held the man, his wife, and their 10-month-old child hostage and then took the man’s 68-year-old father and a friend of his wife’s hostage when they entered the home to look for the family, according to a report.
Over the weekend, the suspects tortured the father and demanded he withdraw a “significant amount of cash” from multiple banks and collect money from a local casino, police said.

The exact amount of money has not been released.
The man was abandoned close to Rivers Casino on Sunday, and he managed to contact authorities at a Wawa, police said.
He was taken to a local hospital to treat his injuries and was later released back to his family, the report noted.
“They’re all OK — as well as you can be after undergoing an ordeal such as that,” Ryan said.
