Injured man found on I-95 near Dumfries

UPDATE, 2:56 p.m.: The man, a 56-year-old from Prince William County, died Thursday afternoon. He committed suicide, Virginia State Police said. Police have not said he how he died.

ORIGINAL POST, 10:01 a.m.: An injured man was found lying in the southbound lanes of Interstate 95 near Dumfries on Thursday morning, according to Virginia State Police.

The man was found at about 8:10 a.m., state police spokeswoman Corinne Geller said. She said police don’t know why or how the man got in the roadway.

He has been taken to a hospital for treatment of serious injuries, Geller said.

The man was found near the exit for Route 234, also known as Dumfries Road.
