Fox News host Sean Hannity insisted Monday he wasn’t attending President Trump’s last campaign stop of the 2018 midterm election cycle in Missouri to stump for Republicans.
“In spite of reports, I will be doing a live show from Cape Girardeau and interviewing President Trump before the rally,” Hannity tweeted of the event scheduled to take place Monday night. “To be clear, I will not be on stage campaigning with the President. I am covering final rally for my show. Something I have done in every election in the past.”

The Trump campaign sent two emails to reporters Sunday touting how country music star Lee Greenwood would perform his hit “God Bless the USA” live at the Cape Girardeau, Mo., event, as well as how conservative media personalities Hannity and Rush Limbaugh would also feature as “special guests.”
The campaign described Hannity and Limbaugh as “longtime friends” of Trump. “Both conservative media commentators are strong advocates for the President’s America First agenda,” the note said.
Reaction to the announcement was swift on social media, where some suggested Hannity is clearly stumping for the GOP.
Things that make you go hmm: Trump’s campaign is promoting Sean Hannity as a “special guest” at Monday night’s midterm finale rally. Fox says Hannity is there to interview Trump, not campaign https://t.co/FJcRd3cRL7

The obvious acknowledgement that these are not unbiased journalists but political operatives working for the radical right-wing of American politics. If you doubted that before, here’s proof positive. https://t.co/BC4bIVCmcL

Now they’re united on the campaign trail. Hannity and Limbaugh might as well have offices in the West Wing. Trump reiterates their toxic blend of ridicule, fear and hate; they reiterate his. George Orwell couldn’t have imagined a more odious trio. https://t.co/en4wXO95aL

Limbaugh, a Cape Girardeau native, did not respond to the Washington Examiner‘s request for comment on the perceived closeness between him and Trump.
Trump is set to make appearances in Cleveland and Fort Wayne, Ind., on Monday before rounding out his “Make America Great Again” tour in Missouri later in the evening.
