Trump asks voters to reject ‘disaster’ Democrat in Georgia House race

President Trump on Tuesday called on Georgia voters to reject the Democratic candidate to replace former Rep. Tom Price in the House, and said the Democrat would be a “disaster” who would raise taxes and be weak on crime.

“Democrat Jon Ossoff would be a disaster in Congress,” Trump tweeted. “VERY weak on crime and illegal immigration, bad for jobs and wants higher taxes. Say NO.”

Trump also called on Republicans in the state to “get out today and VOTE.”

The vote is being seen as an early indicator of how voters will respond to Trump’s presidency, although the Tuesday vote may not yield a final result today. Georgia’s primary system requires the winner to take 50 percent of the vote, and while Ossoff may get close, he’s likely to be trailed by several Republicans, which may force a runoff election.

Trump tweeted late Monday night that a runoff “would be a win,” and set up another vote in which the GOP would keep the seat.

Trump also reminded voters Tuesday morning that he is doing all he can to reverse the “weak” immigration policies of the Obama administration.

Those policies, he said, “allowed bad MS 13 gangs to form in cities across U.S. We are removing them fast!”
