Transurban-Fluor and AAA Mid-Atlantic are hosting a high school competition in Fairfax County in which students will create media campaigns aimed at stopping distracted driving in construction zones on the Capital Beltway.
Students from Falls Church High School, James Madison High School, and George C. Marshall High School will present their ideas Thursday at Luther Jackson Middle School in Falls Church. The winners get an internship through Transurban-Fluor to implement their campaign.
The program’s proposed by students must cost less than $5,000 to implement, and will be judged by an expert panel at Thursday’s competition.
The contest is a part of the “Orange Cones. No Phones.” campaign, which focuses on distracted driving issues in the beltway’s HOT Lanes construction zone.
