McGahn’s lawyer hits back at Giuliani over Mueller report

An attorney for formal White House counsel Don McGahn pushed back against questions about his client’s credibility.

President Trump’s lawyer Rudy Giuliani questioned what McGhan told special counsel Robert Mueller after the release of his redacted report detailing the investigation into Russian meddling in the 2016 presidential election.

“It’s a mystery why Rudy Giuliani feels the need to re-litigate incidents the Attorney General and Deputy Attorney General have concluded were not obstruction. But they are accurately described in the report,” William A. Burck said in a statement.

McGahn cooperated with the special counsel’s team, sitting down for several interviews. In an interview with the New York Times, Giuliani said that McGahn’s testimony about Trump’s alleged interference into the investigation “can’t be taken at face value.”

According to the Mueller team’s findings, the president told McGahn to contact Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein to have Mueller fired, ending the investigation.

McGahn served on the White House counsel from 2017 until late last year.
