Tesla founder Elon Musk teased a massive reward for anyone who can come up with an effective means of capturing excess carbon dioxide.
President Biden is implementing sweeping environmental initiatives designed to curb the country’s carbon footprint. He signed executive orders revoking permits for the proposed Keystone XL Pipeline expansion, reentering the nation into the Paris climate accord, and weakening Trump administration actions designed to limit the influence of the Environmental Protection Agency.
“Am donating $100M towards a prize for best carbon capture technology,” Musk wrote. “Details next week.”

“We’re going to combat climate change in a way we have not before,” Biden said as he signed the executive orders on Wednesday evening.
Still, the president issued a call to action for the Democratic majorities in both chambers of Congress.
“They are just executive actions,” he said. “They are important, but we’re going to need legislation for a lot of the things we’re going to do.”
Tesla did not immediately reply to a request for comment.
