Fox News host Sean Hannity condemned the “abusively biased news media in this country” for zeroing in on one clip during his expansive interview with Rudy Giuliani on Wednesday.
During that interview, Giuliani revealed that Trump reimbursed his personal lawyer, Michael Cohen, for a $130,000 payment he gave porn star Stormy Daniels as part of an agreement barring her from going public with her alleged affair with Trump more than a decade ago.
While Hannity argued in his opening monologue Thursday that there were many important aspects to that interview, the media fixated on just one clip.
“Instead, for 24 hours these lazy, these abusively biased, echo-chamber people in the ‘fake news,’ overpaid media have been erupting over only one 30-second clip again and again and again,” Hannity said.
Giuliani and Trump have since sought to clarify, amid backlash and concern that there may have been a violation of campaign finance laws, that Trump did not know specifically about the hush money agreement and that Cohen received a monthly retainer completely separate from Trump’s campaign.
