Mont.Co. elects new leadership to state Senate

Maryland Sen. Jamie Raskin, D-Germantown, has been chosen to lead the eight-member Montgomery County Senate delegation to the General Assembly.

Raskin, a member of the Judiciary Committee, succeeds Sen. Richard Madaleno, D-Kensington, who held the position for three years.

Sen. Nancy J. King, a Democrat from Montgomery Village, will replace Raskin as vice chairwoman. King serves on the Budget and Taxation Committee.

The county’s 24-member delegation to the House of Delegates is scheduled to meet June 14 to elect new leadership.
