Michele Bachmann: Trump should ‘step up deportation’ of immigrants unwilling to ‘bear allegiance’ to US

Former Minnesota congresswoman Michele Bachmann stands firm behind President Trump’s travel ban on refugees from Muslim-majority countries, calling for vigilance against Muslim immigrants because, she claims, they want to undermine Western civilization.

“After all of this phony, fake, Russia-collusion non-story, the number one thing that voters in America stand with Donald Trump on, it’s the idea that they want the pause button hit on immigration from Islamic countries because of the problems that are coming into this country,” Bachmann said Wednesday night at forum for Republican candidates for Minnesota governor, according to the Pioneer Press.

Bachmann said Americans should “not be afraid” of speaking their mind on the issue.

“That’s what I see in Minnesota: Too many people who are being afraid of being called racists, bigots, Islamophobes — I’m not afraid of it, because what we’ve got to do is talk about the truth of the problems that are going on in Minnesota.”

She added the U.S. should “step up deportation in the country of people who are unwilling to bear allegiance to the United States” and stop immigrants coming to the U.S. from Muslim countries to prevent the creation of “parallel societies within our society.”

Trump made a campaign stop in Minnesota days before the election in which he railed against the state for taking in thousands of Somali refugees.

Minnesotans have “suffered enough,” he said.
